Have you ever felt like you were on an uphill climb with no top ledge to be seen? Like life just keeps throwing obstacles in your path and there’s nothing to hold onto? Nothing to grip? All you can see is a long fall to the bottom but no top in sight and your arms are getting tired of hanging on. Yes, life is like that at times. Sometimes it’s because of others; sometimes it’s our own doing or decisions that got us here; and other times, it’s just God’s path for us to get us to the other side of His plan for us. That’s where trust comes in!

Faith. God’s Word tells us that “So then, faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Romans 10:17 It also tells us that without faith it’s impossible to please God. “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” Hebrews 11:6

All through God’s word, we see examples of people who lived by faith. You can start at Genesis (the very first book) and see example after example of people who had faith in God–they believed in Him and that what He said, He would do! Our faith doesn’t just grow on its own. As we go through life and experiences and exercise what little faith we have, that faith grows! As we read God’s word, we see Him for who He really is and our faith grows some more! As we spend time with Him talking to Him and listening to Him in prayer, again, our faith grows.

So, when those roadblocks come and we see no end in sight, we can trust that He is already at the top, holding the rope for us and He won’t let us go! We will reach the top as we keep our eyes on Him.
